Hello, my name is Vaughan de Kirby. I’m an investment immigration attorney based here in San Francisco.
We review the web frequently, and we review the questions people ask, and we were reviewing it the other day and realized there’s a misconception, which I firmly believe is from the media and the people that are negative on EB-5. And the question people type in when they search on Google frequently is how do I buy a Green Card? And I want to make sure that I dispel that concept that EB-5 is about buying a Green Card.
In fact, EB-5 is about an investment, an investment in the American economy that results in 10 full-time positions for American citizens or permanent residents. It is purely an investment. And as you may know, there’re two paths: there’s the Regional Center path, where you investing in an approved business entity that’s been approved by USCIS to attract investors for the purposes of EB-5; or you have the alternative of creating your own business enterprise. But nowhere in the EB-5 law are we looking at something that resembles buying a Green Card. Again you’re making an important investment in the American economy that’s going to create jobs, and going to provide you, your spouse, and your minor children a chance to have permanent residency in the United States.
I hope this clears that misunderstanding. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office or call 415-221-2345.
